My research lies on the areas of Databases and Knowledge Representation and Reasoning, focusing on efficient techniques for Semantic Web data processing. I am keen on combining theoretical results with practical systems and applying them in real world use cases. I have extensive research experience in several national and european research projects. I am also a member of the Hellenic Association of Artificial Intelligence.
For 9 months, starting from September 2011, I was working on cyber security and cyber defence issues in the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, as part of my obligatory military service.
In 2012 I started working in National and Kapodistrian University of Athens under the supervision of Prof. Koubarakis in the 4-year FP7 project Optique, developing techniques for Ontology-Based data access (OBDA) distributed query execution over federated data sources, succesfully deployed in the Statoil Optique use-case. More recently, I started working on parallel and distributed execution of geospatial RDF queries for the Copernicus App Lab and ExtremeEarth european projects.
