March 2017 - now:

Research Assistant, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens

Projects:

  • ExtremeEarth: concentrates on developing techniques and software that will enable the extraction of information and knowledge from big Copernicus data using deep learning techniques and extreme geospatial analytics, and the development of two use cases based on this information and knowledge and other relevant non-EO data sets. ExtremeEarth will impact developments in the Integrated Ground Segment of Copernicus and the Sentinel Collaborative Ground Segment.

  • Copernicus App Lab: establishes a proof-of-concept for providing the data from the Copernicus land monitoring service, the Copernicus marine environment monitoring service, and the Copernicus atmosphere monitoring service as linked open data. This endeavour is meant to promote the incorporation of Copernicus data in mobile applications and the use of proper tools in the potential future linkage efforts of the Copernicus Services or developers themselves.

October 2015 - October 2016:

Undergraduate Research Fellow, NCSR Demokritos
My BSc thesis was about the compression of text documents using n-gram graphs and the decompression of n-gram graphs using local search.

September 2012 - March 2013:

Active member - Software Support, SciFY NPO

Projects:

  • PServer: an opensource (Apache License 2.0) application developed by Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications of NCSR "Demokritos", which offers the possibility of personalization of other applications. It is now offered to all for free through SciFY.
