It concerns the study of prosodic phenomena in the Greek language and the furher development of corresponding models for Greek. Some of these have been directly applied to DEMOSTHeNES (http://demosthenes.di.uoa.gr). Funded by the GR-PROSODY project of the KAPODISTRIAS Program of the Special Account for Research Grants, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

Our Speech Group (http://www.di.uoa.gr/speech) was in charge of building an augmented synthesizer for the Greek language for the specific domain. I enhanced DEMOSTHeNES (http://demosthenes.di.uoa.gr) in several ways (e.g. parsing SOLE XML documents, speech server, connectivity with FESTIVAL (http://www.cstr.ed.ac.uk/projects/festival) etc) and further built optimized trained prosodic models using professional actors. Special thanks to Stavros Giangoulis and Serafita Grigoriadou for offering their professional voices.
