Scope
This
international conference will bring together scientific domain experts,
database researchers, practitioners and developers for the presentation
and exchange of current research on concepts, tools and techniques for
scientific and statistical database applications. The 16th
SSDBM will provide a forum for original research contributions and
practical system design, implementation and evaluation. This year the
conference will focus on the following themes: Spatiotemporal, Sensor
Databases, Bioinformatics (genomics, biodiversity informatics including
biological databases), and Data Mining. The
priority areas will be supplemented with invited talks and panel
sessions, and illustrated demonstrations of research prototypes and
industrial systems. SSDBM 2004 will continue the tradition of past SSDBM
meetings in providing a stimulating environment to encourage discussion,
fellowship and exchange of ideas in all aspects of research related to
scientific and statistical database management in Santorini Island. This
year the conference has been arranged the week after SIGMOD'04 in Paris.
Topics
Research
papers discussing database issues of Spatiotemporal, Sensor Databases,
Bioinformatics, Geological Databases and Data Mining are particularly
welcome, however, original research papers on
any area related to scientific and statistical database
management are invited. Topics include: Conceptual Models, Data
Integration, Visualization, System Architectures, Metadata Management,
Query Optimization, Continuous Queries over Data Streams, Data Reduction
and Approximation, Data Knowledge and Management, Multimedia Data
Management and Data Warehouses.
Submission
Guidelines
Submissions can be either:
Original research papers of approximately 5000 words or 10 pages in IEEE US
Letter Format with a minimum 10pt font.
Short papers (of 4 pages in IEEE US Letter Format minimum 10pt font) discussing
new ideas or work at an early stage. Short papers will be presented during a
poster session and will be included in the proceedings.
Demonstration papers (of 4 pages in IEEE US Letter Format minimum 10pt font)
describing completed software or prototypes. The software is to be presented
during a demonstration session. Demonstration papers will be included in the
conference proceedings.
We expect to publish the proceedings with the IEEE press as in previous years.
Please feel free to use the IEEE proceedings paper format.
Submission process:
All papers must be submitted electronically to the submission site: http://skyblue.csd.auth.gr/reviews/ssdbm04/
The paper submission process is in three stages on-line:
Stage 1: Abstract Submission
Abstracts of up to 250 words should be submitted along with the details of the
paper and a contact person for the paper. After the abstract is submitted you
will receive by email a login id and password to continue to the second phase of
submission.
Stage 2: Electronic paper (PDF) Submission
All papers should be submitted in PDF format.
You can check, and where necessary change, any of the information provided at
Stage 1 while you are submitting your paper.
Papers are uploaded automatically on provision of the file name on your system.
After your paper has been submitted you may edit the information at any time
until the closing date for submissions.
Thereafter your paper will be sent to 3 PC Members for review. When the review
period is finished and the final list of papers for the PC has been selected you
will be notified of the decision after which you will be able to login and
display the reviews for your paper along with the list of accepted papers.
If your paper(s) is accepted for the conference then you must ensure that a
camera ready copy of the paper is uploaded to the system by the specified
deadline.
Stage 3: Camera ready paper (POSTSCRIPT ONLY) Submission
Log in with your user and password to the SSDBM2004 submission site (http://skyblue.csd.auth.gr/reviews/ssdbm04/).
Select the camera ready paper submission link. For each paper you have submitted
and has been accepted, follow these guidelines:
PAGE LIMITS:
REGULAR PAPERS: You are allowed ten (10) pages, including all figures, tables,
and references.
DEMONSTRATION/SHORT PAPERS: You are allowed four (4) pages, including all
figures, tables, and references.
POSTER PAPERS: You are allowed two (2) pages, including all figures, tables, and
