How to get a reference letter from me
In the last few years many undergraduate and graduate students of our department trusted me with writing
reference letters for them. I have been happy to do this and even happier to see most of them being admitted to
prestigious programs in Greece and abroad. However, at the same time, this has been an overwhelming experience
for me that took a lot of time away from my other research, teaching and administrative activities. So, from now
on, if you are an undergraduate or postgraduate student who wants a reference letter from me, you have to satisfy
one or more of the following criteria:
- Have in all of my courses (Data Structures and Programming Techniques, Artificial Intelligence, Artificial
Intelligence II and Knowledge Technologies) a grade greater than or equal to 9. This of course means that you have taken ALL these courses with me. It is OK to take one or more of these courses with another faculty member but your mark needs to be greater than equal to 9 again.
- Have a grade point average of 8.5 or higher.
- Your dissertation or thesis is done under my supervision.
- You are a member of my research group.
If you satisfy any of the above criteria, my reference letter for you will be meaningful since I will have
excellent things to say about you. If not, it is better for you to get a reference letter from another colleague
in whose courses you have excelled or with whom you are currently working.
Information that I will need for writing the reference letter (in English)
- Recent CV
- Recent Transcript(s)
- Which courses of mine you have taken, when (academic year) and what was your mark?
- Your current GPA
- Anything else you think is important and needs to be added in the reference letter (e.g., a paragraph about your undergraduate dissertation, and important project you had undertaken etc.)
